ABOUT OUR CUSTOMER
THE CHALLENGE
Managing extreme sized 2D and 3D real world computer aided design datasets.
HANDLING SOME OF THE LARGEST AUTOCAD DRAWINGS IN THE WORLD
With CAD applications and large datasets delivered as a service, this organization can upscale and downscale on an on-going basis. Furthermore, depending on what year and time of year we are in, they also constantly face needs to upscale or downscale numbers of temporary locations and staff either on the way up or on the way down. Hence, flexibility with many outsourced workers and work locations is extremely important. Neither do they want to buy large local workstations for temporary consultants, nor do they want to worry about the security of their data. Since no data can be placed locally and must run in real time, the organization went searching for a secure CAD-as-a-Cloud service. The Venue Facilities Design Department contacted Lean-On, where they found a match in Lean-On’s CAD-as-a-Service solutions.
ADVANCING THE DIGITAL JOURNEY
CAD-as-a-Service – the Future Way of Working with Large 2D and 3D Drawings:
“Primary applications for drawings here are Autodesk, Adobe, SketchUp and more, and the drawings are some of the largest in the world, containing many components. Drawings of entire cities like Madrid are detailed down to the small bench, trees and wires. Workflows have improved, we can now onboard a new staff member in 30 minutes, whereas before we needed to install a new local graphics workstation from the ground up. It is easier to have a virtual desktop rather than a laptop, where the specs sometimes quickly become too small. With Lean-On´s Desktop-as-a-Service solution it is easy to test and change a virtual desktop to the size that fits the needs. If a larger virtual desktop is required, the extra resources are added quickly to the desktop. We have found Lean-On in this process is very proactive and happy to help, with for instance 24/7 support, access to an AutoCad specialist and test of different sized virtual desktops. We see this as the way forward.“
